| abstract | This thesis deals with the problems that arrise when one applies classical narrative theory to certain narratives, and especially to the hypodiegetic narratives contained within these stories. The narratives used to demonstrate these problems are J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter-series and Kevin Crossley Holland's trilogy called Arthur. The thesis contains some brief background information about narrative theory, then goes on to present the problems that arise when looking at these two series, and finally attempts to find a solution. |
